The Browning Auto-5 is a work of art, an elegant room-clearing weapon for a more civilized age, and it will always hold a special place in my cold, withered heart. Having said that, for shotguns available in the T2k milieu, my experiences with later evolutions of the line lead me toward the Beretta 1201FP.

Remington Model 1100
Still holds the record for most shells shot out of a semi-auto shotgun, without any cleaning whatsoever and without any failures of any kind. That number is a staggering 24,000+ rounds. I've owned a 12 bore and 20 bore for over 30 years and can attest to how hardy this gun is. Great companion for the end of the world. Also its the best selling auto-shotgun in US history apparently so should be plenty around. |
Love the spas 12, owned one years ago, still regret selling it.

The Mossberg is the one I had the most experience with. I actually got to qualify with one in the National Guard; Shotgun is an unusual badge.

1980's
It's been some time now (mid-1980's) but some ARNG units had Stevens Model 520's on inventory.
Lots of focus on the Mossberg 590 being one of the official issue items for the US Army; however the DOD bought large numbers of vanilla Mossberg 500's off the shelf for issue and use. |
KS-23
The Youtube algorithm kicked this out to me today- the Soviet Union's 23mm/4-gauge riot "karbine".
