Juhlin's user pmulcahy made it to Globalsecurity.org
Hi folks,
I just wanted to let you know that our user pmulcahy11b and his website http://www.pmulcahy.com/ have been on quote by GlobalSecurity.org since at least 2018. In fact, the guys over at GS have simply copied one of his vehicle descriptions of one of the more obscure Warsaw Pact vehicles in full and didn't even bother to edit out T2K specific stats. :D How do I know? Well, I was doing a bit of research on the Polish use of the Hungarian FUG scout car or more correctly the Czechoslovakian license-built variant OT-65A "Vydra" (Otter). The FUG was a Hungarian scout car built in order to have an indigenous product that could fill the role of the Soviet BRDM-1 or later the BRDM-2. In essence, Pact nations wanted to buy national instead of Soviet/Russian and thus some of the other Pact nations bought FUG-series cars as well, often parallel to BRDM series cars. The FUG initially had no weapons except a pintle mounted machine-gun that the gunner/commander had to fire while exposing himself to return fire. The Hungarians later changed that design flaw while also converting the FUG into a light APC with capabilities for six dismounts and a turret similar to that of the BTR-60 or BRDM-2. This cramped APC was called PSZH and introduced in 1970. The OT-65A was a similar concept built by Czechoslovakia. It used a smaller turret taken from the OT-62B TOPAS, itself a Czechoslovakian improvement of the BTR-50 tracked APC. The turret was armed with an UK vz. 59 GPMG and the T21 recoilless rifle (a contemporary to the early Carl Gustaf, Wiki in Czech: here). Smaller articles on the vehicles are available here:
Further research led me to GlobalSecurity.org, where the last sentence read: Quote:
https://www.google.com/search?client...he+vehicle.%22 Or more directly:
And we all know pmulcahy would never infringe in this way and GlobalSecurity likely never intended to give us T2K stats. :D ;) So much for curious news today. |
Not surprised to see that. His site has been quoted often by people who do not realize it is not a professional military database. It is just that good.
Paul's site predates my forum by many years and I can honestly say it was the primary reason I maintained my deep interest in T2k into the new millennium. Without him I would not have been around when rpghost closed, to be able to pick up the reins of running a forum back then. Thanks again Paul. |
While it's great that they consider Paul to be an authoritative source, it's not cool that they plagiarized from him. At least credit him. Better yet, huge him as a consultant if he wants.

HAHA! That's funny.
I'm too sick right now to care... <cough-cough> |
I honestly omitted Paul's pseudonym from my original post, because I wanted to make sure that I spelled it correctly and then something came up and when I finally hit enter on the post, I had forgotten to add the handle.
Sorry, Paul, and I hope you're recovered by now. |
Thanks, I didn't even notice you forgot my 'nym. I managed to contract diverticulitis and pneumonia at the same time. The diverticulitis was easy to knock out -- five days of antibiotics -- but the pneumonia hung on for nearly two weeks, hence the coughing. My doctor couldn't give me codeine because opioids interact with my schizoaffective disorder and produce hallucinations. She recommended Alka Seltzer cold & flu gelcaps, and they actually worked better than any other meds I ever took for pneumonia. Sometimes a prescription isn't necessary.

Glad to hear you're back on track. I wish you the best of health!
