On 6 June 2009, a US Marine may finally be able to come after 60 years
I would like to let you know, so that you will wish us luck, on the 6th of this upcoming June, a few colleagues and I are going to be locating, and identifying a dead United States Marine who has been deemed MIA in a somewhat sealed cave here on Okinawa since the battle in 1945. We have his coordinates, and know exactly where the cave is. After more than 60 years, this Marine may finally come home safe and sound. Wish us luck, and you may hear about us on the news haha.
Note that since we understand we as SOFA status cannot actually do any of the unearthing, a Japanese colleague who works as a cave surveyor for the government will be doing the initial investigation. We will be on hand to identify the Marine as soon as he is found. |
Good luck with bringing him home and laying him to rest properly. Where possible its always the best thing for the soldier and his family. Sadly Edmund De Wind, the VC winner who's former house I live in, was never recovered and is only commemorated in memorials rather than having an actual grave.

Good luck and Godspeed. It's about time that Marine gets relieved from his post, he has stood watch over the battlefield long enough.

You know what they say about Marines: they take care of their own, and never leave a fallen Marine behind if at all possible. This one needs to come home ASAP.

The assholes that did the Iwo Jima MIA recovery a year or so ago just ignored us after we tried to contact them a bunch of times. |
