I'm guessing that you have the V2.2 rulebook because this is very different to my V2.0 rulebook. I'm trying to get hold of the V2.0 rulebook to compare them however.

I'm at work at present so can't give you a synopsis of the V2.0 background but when I re-read it recently I didn't think that it was particularly believable.
I've read in some places that V2.2 was the "definitive" background prior to T2013 coming out and that because the T2013 background isn't very believable many GMs are adapting the V2.2 background to the T2013 rules. I don't personally have a copy of T2013 yet however so I haven't been able to compare them myself.
