I'm interested out of curiosity.
Although I'm taking a very different path (I have a union between China and Russia), I took some options that are very similar: a Latin American Socialist Union (Chavez), a Middle Eastern Union (centered on Turkey and Iran moran than Iran/Iraq) and a limited extension of the EU.
