My favorites from the cannon are definitely Krakow, Vistula and Black Madonna.
My favorite custom is a Pirates of the Caribbean campaign I GMed. It focused largely on a variety of powers competing for a few remaining Venezuelan oilfields. Cane sugar and narcotics were additional trade goods of value. The French maintained a naval presence in the Windward islands including a FFG. The Dutch maintained control of the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao) nearest the mainland. Those two kept an uneasy truce while fending off pirates, marauders, Cubans, US Milgov and Civgov, etc.
The oil provided enough of an economic kick to make it interesting and the area was largely un-nuked and low population density with large stocks of seafood. As a result, conditions wern't that bad.
The players acted as mercenaries in the region including missions to Trinidad, Venezuela, French Guyana and the windward islands before eventually returning to the US with several hundred gallons of diesel.
