I like all of this. It always seemed odd to me that in canon USCG Commandant Nils Holsgirder was able to keep such a low profile without either being forced into a more proactive posture by MilGov or being more heavily pressed by the UBF. Your work goes some way to offering reasons for this, because Holsgirder has effectively been sidelined as a major power. MilGov probably sees Holsgirder's command as something of a strategic reserve, able to be tapped later when his assets are needed. In the meantime, MilGov probably recognises that Holsgirder's quiet and defensive posture is useful for husbanding his assets through the troubled times of 2000-2001.

At the same time, while MilGov was probably pissed at MacDowell when it first realised what a naked grab for power he had made, through 1999-2000-2001 MilGov would see that MacDowell was much more operationally useful than Holsgirder. MacDowell is probably seen by MilGov as less obstreperous than Holsgirder, easier to deal with and certainly more willing to go out and kick some heads, assuming something is offered to him in return. I wouldn't be surprised if eventually MilGov pressures Holsgirder into retirement and reunites the two USCG commands.

I have a couple of questions:

- Were either Holsgirder's or MacDowell's commands tapped for assets to assist with Opertation Omega (even if it was only for USCG vessels to escort the Omega fleet once it got to the western side of the Atlantic), and if so what inducements were offered? For instance did either Holsgirder or MacDowell receive reinforcements, vessels or materiels from MilGov after the arrival of the Omega fleet in return for their cooperation?

- After MilGov became aware that the USS Corpus Christi had been stolen did it share its intel on the matter with either or both of the New England USCG commands?

- Once MilGov put together its operation to recover the Corpus Christi from the UBF, would it request/order assistance from either of the USCG commands? Or might it be concerned that either Holsgirder's or MacDowell's commands might make a play for the sub themselves, or that they might be security risks and therefore sidelined from the operation?

I know much of my comments and questions are related to the Last Sub module and the Rifle River mini module, but those are the two canon modules set in the two USCG command's AOs. It would be in relation to running those modules that I would be most interested in using your excellent USCG material Web.
