In my PbP, the PCs didn't even try to talk to the girls. They simply paid Damian some captured gold jewelry for information on what was waiting downriver. They also neglected to tell Damian about a marauder toll station they'd passed upriver. He barely escaped with his life and the girls were all taken. Who knows what happened to them after that. Maybe if I'd made it obvious that the girls were dragooned, they would have pressed a bit. GM's have to tread a fine line lest they be accused of railroading their players.

Yup...
Most Players would have the feeling that the working girls are there on their own merits and not really be conscerened with it, but if they know that the girls were dragooned and forced to do this... they'd stand up to the three thugs and do something to help them. Its just that kind of situtation...
But if the hint that the girls were there against their will was there, the PCs would get involved... especially if the scumlord's try to recruit a female PC or team NPC to join the stable...

Fuck being a hero. Do you know what you get for being a hero? Nothing! You get shot at. You get a little pat on the back, blah blah blah, attaboy! You get divorced... Your wife can't remember your last name, your kids don't want to talk to you... You get to eat a lot of meals by yourself. Trust me kid, nobody wants to be that guy. I do this because there is nobody else to do it right now. Believe me if there was somebody else to do it, I would let them do it. There's not, so I'm doing it.
