My rule was nothing newer than stuff from the Gulf war. Because I really don't believe if things would have happened the way they do in the book most of the inventions and technology we have today would not be what it is because of a horrible war.
I don't think cell phones and DVDs or any of things would have come to pass they way they have today.
Also the books came out in the 1980's so I really like the nostalgia of the past. I like the 1980's view of the future 2000's which is much more analog than the 2000's really were.
