The only thing I'd question is the West African crazy costumes and stuff if it's a CONUS gang. The guys in crazy outfits and all that in West Africa speaks to a specific belief system about confusing victim's ghosts to keep them from getting revenge on their killer.

It doesn't riff with much in terms of memes or themes in American culture (gang subculture or otherwise) -- honestly, the first American gang-banger of any ethnicity to show up for a raid wearing a sequined prom dress, life preserver, and rainbow afro wig is probably just going to get a cool to downright hostile response from his fellow guys.

What might riff would be deliberately emulating the Mad Max fashion esthetic, however. First -- the bad guys in Mad Max are a pretty good template for scary-as-hell bad guys if you are living through an apocalypse. Second, I'm not 100% on the timeline, but I think the Twilight War would have been kicking off right about the time that hip hop fans would be watching Tupac's Mad Max inspired "California Love" video, which would have been around a year or two before the bombs drop (I think).

(And being in a firefight with guys in leather chaps, football pads, and mohawks -- be they black, white, yellow, or green -- is probably just as surreal as trading rounds with a guy in a wedding dress and a green afro wig . . .)
