SPLC writes pretty good political novels hard to distinguish from nonfiction. The reliable way to tell, though, is that all SPLC fiction and most articles sourcing it slant so hard your monitor will fall off your desk.
It's some pretty good campaign fodder but just remember that three-dimensional villains are far more interesting than the cardboard cutouts in that article.
