actually the M1911 is essentially "one size fits all" my arthritic grandmother can easily handle it. the limited magazine does pose some issues in a close quarters fight. but given how few people have big enough hands for a double stacked .45ACP you can't really issue one with a higher capacity that your average combat soldier can use given that for some reason most of the people i've encountered in combat arms are rather scrawny (makes us harder to shoot ).

the best course of action when all is against you is to slow down and think critically about the situation. this way you are not blindly rushing into an ambush and your mind is doing something useful rather than getting you killed.
