Yeah, especially at the Early Tiers it gets a little random. Once you get in a squad of like minded players, it improves.
The big difference between arcade is the the modelling (Performance wise of the tanks) are much better - more realistic, and then you don't have your auto-aim cross: You actually have to estimate your range. Of course, if you know how to read grids (The larger maps are 400m a grid, the smaller I think is 100 or 150, can't recall), it gives you a pretty good advantage.
Sim, on the other hand, is a lot tougher. There is no autospotting, no name tags, nothing save the map, to give you any idea where the other guy is, so you have to use your eye to find them.
