Well,
If we want to try an idea of what he might have been up to....

The man known only as James Bond to friends and foes alike was very busy during the Twilight War, at least, as far as declassified files that happened to survive the chaos of the Twilight War allow us to determine.

Bond was one of the first agents to get out of Moscow with word that the Soviets were about to invade China, sadly it was only hours before the invasion commenced, so while it did little to change matters, the fact that the British attempted to warn the Chinese at all was something of a boon to Anglo-Sino relations.

Bond spent the rest of this period, such as we can tell, doing a lot of work gathering political intelligence in the Soviet Far East, and the curious affair of the sudden defection of a daughter of a Marshal of the Soviet Union to the West, that had all the hallmarks of a Bond operation.

Once war broke out in Europe, Bond was very busy apparently, with reported involvement in the exfiltration of Lech Walensa, and the assassination of the East German Interior Minister, who was wanted for war crimes by the West German government. It was never conclusively proven that Bond had a hand n the man's death, but again, it had all the hallmarks of a Bond-style hit.

Once the nukes flew, Bond was not seen again until the convenient deaths of several separatist leaders in Britain, Wales, and Scotland. It is reported that Scotland and her condition after the exchange disturbed Bond to the very core, and led to his decision to leave the service.

After that, his whereabouts are lost to history....
