The first day of the Battle of Gettysburg. 28,000 Confederate and 23,049 Union soldiers lost their lives between July 1st and July 3rd, 1863. It was the bloodiest battle of the American Civil War (Antietam was the bloodiest SINGLE DAY OF BATTLE of the American Civil War).
