Understand that very well Krejcik. This is always about circumstances. Most people will tell you that they are living quite lives. Mostly, it is true but when you dig a bit you often find that something interesting has happened to them, they just don't consider it that way.

In these cases, these happen in the countryside and countrysides are always tougher than cities (and more quiet in the same time). Moreover, the more remote the area, the tougher the people. At the time, you needed a 4 hours drive to go from Porto city to the place (80 miles). Today you need only 2 hours and these things happen less often. On the down side, people are smoking crack and using heroin.

As I said, I have only been a witness in some of these (not an actor and I wasn't a kid unless you consider yourself a kid when you are 25) but I found a few to be interesting. The good portuguese doctor with his horse and winchesters has become a favored NPC in some of my games (circumstances change him a bit from time to time, then). I forgot, as you might have noticed most stories are about Portugal but this is due to the fact that this country was the theater of the last major revolution in Western Europe (1974). It involved socialist soldiers with the revolution taken over by communists with a counter revolution by the socialists again (1975). That leaves its mark for some times.

Keep asking around you, especially the older, you might be surprised
