I can't see Australia committing
any troops to the middle east, not when they've already got a contingent in Korea, and a war with Indonesia (a MUCH larger military if somewhat lacking in modern equipment) right on our own doorstep.
I also can't see any form of conscription being brought in until Australia itself was under threat. Any attempt to do so before then would likely bring down the government at the very next election (if not sooner).
