The village at the upper side of the map is the catalan village of Ascó, and the river is the Ebro (Ebre) .The rail line that runs parallel to the river goes into tunnels. The crossing point is a bridge made from boats (I don't know the proper english term, if anyone could inform me...
) by republican engineers in 1938.
