1980's
It's been some time now (mid-1980's) but some ARNG units had Stevens Model 520's on inventory.
Lots of focus on the Mossberg 590 being one of the official issue items for the US Army; however the DOD bought large numbers of vanilla Mossberg 500's off the shelf for issue and use.
