Default yet another OT: D and D is gangsta!

I saw this on my local newspaper.

http://www.insidebayarea.com/weird-news/ci_14265020

So basically officials at a Wisconsin prison banned playing Dungeons and Dragons over concerns that it promotes gang activity.

What a total crock of shite!
Reminds me of that radical group of estremeist christians back in the 80's who wanted to ban RPGs without even one of them so much as once looking at the material!

On the other hand, the man is a convicted murderer and the game does tend to revolve around killing....

If he really wanted to the guy could just write his own RPG and play that. I suppose the prison auhorities could try to ban role playing gaming altogether but it would be more difficult than just confiscating books, dice and other gaming material.

I imagine he's in there for a while so provided he can get enough pens and paper, it's certainly doable...

Still, refusing a prisoner the right to play an RPG seems like a VERY cruel and unusual punishment to me! Could any of us survive without our fix?

I'm surviving on severely reduced RPG rations at the moment (no active gaming) but I'm not real happy about it...

It's been about 2 months since my last face to face. Life is nearly unbearable!

"Relax man.Chill. I will fix you up good.Hear that ? Thats real multihedral dice rattling in the cup right there.. Now,lets see your color..."

My group games once a week, if any of you are in or will be in Lincoln Nebraska just let me know.

Heck we used to game several times a week, back in the day when I was running Aftermath it was damn near every night. Ever so once in a while we would do something like go out to dinner and a movie. but we would still talk about gaming. We were a serious crowd of dedicated gamers back then.

If D&D is banned, maybe we should pool our resources and send him a T2K book. That would really set off the warden.
