Default 2nd edition history

I only have v1.0 of T2K.

It is my understanding that one of the 2nd editions has an alternate timeline that results in the 1991 coup attempt in the USSR succeeding.

Could anyone kindly post a quick blurb on how this alternate history claims this happened?

Also, is there an official canon on the end of USSR involvement in Afghanistan?

Paul

Bona nit!

The first and main point of divergence between real history and Twilight v2 timeline is the moment when the KGB storms the Soviet Parliament building, killing Boris Yeltsin in the process. At the "Designer's Notes" chapter at the end of the v2.2 rulebook, the designers explain how, in real life, the Alpha Team officers refused, "one after another in descending order of seniority" to carry out the assigned mission. Here is where they choose to begin their own timeline. The Soviet coup is not an entire success as the process of disintegration of the Soviet Union continues. Some of the members declares the dissolution of the Soviet Union, not recognizing the new government and war erupts in the territories of Central Asia. The coup is in 1991, two years after the Soviet Union's retreat from Afghanistan ant the beginning of the v2 timeline.

Does anyone by any chance know of a web resource that has a breakdown of the timeline from T2k version 2.2?

I have version 1 and version 2.0 but I've never read version 2.2 and I'm interested in it as I'm contemplating a new campaign.

Thanks in advance for any help people can give me.

Bon dia!

I don't know about any site with the timeline of the T2K version 2.2. The only source I know is the v2.2 "Yellow Rulebook".

By the way anybody knows if the timelines for v2 and v2.2 are different?

I'm guessing that you have the V2.2 rulebook because this is very different to my V2.0 rulebook. I'm trying to get hold of the V2.0 rulebook to compare them however.

Also according to Wikipedia (I'm guessing that it's reliable in this case) there is a difference:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twiligh...evised_setting

I'm at work at present so can't give you a synopsis of the V2.0 background but when I re-read it recently I didn't think that it was particularly believable.

I've read in some places that V2.2 was the "definitive" background prior to T2013 coming out and that because the T2013 background isn't very believable many GMs are adapting the V2.2 background to the T2013 rules. I don't personally have a copy of T2013 yet however so I haven't been able to compare them myself.

There are differences but nothing major IMO. I have both (v2.2 in paper and v2.0 in e-book) and differences never really stroke me (altough I never paid full attention to v2.0).
