Loved the book. Looking forward to the film, although with some reservations. The fact that they are offering an explanation for the catastrophe leading to the post-apoc setting of the book already has be a bit worried about how true the movie will stay to the novel.

It's always a strange feeling watching something that you've loved and imagined and made your own take shape as someone else's vision. I felt that way when I first saw the opening scenes of Fellowship of the Ring. I also felt that way watching the beach storming scene in Saving Private Ryan, having read about the D-Day landings so many times since the time of my youth.

I agree with you Raellus.

BTW, the opening scene of the two movies you have mentioned strangely exceed the previous view I had in my mind... A notable exception. In particular and though I have contradictory feelings about the three movies based in "The Lord of the rings", the opening scene keep me holding my breath, stuck in my seat.

I loved them. My main beef was that Dunedain don't grow beards.
