Arma 2 - So very cool
I've reading a lot of reviews about the new game Arma 2 after a friend sent me this link:
http://www.bistudio.com/arma2.html Then I started looking YouTube videos of Arma 2's game play and now I'm very much looking forward to buying it. It looks like it is a fairly high end game graphically so I'm going to wait until I get my new, uber-powered computer in about three weeks before I buy the game. This is a military simulator as much as a game. You can have hundreds of allied and enemy units on the battlefield with you and the maps are huge. This game is perfect for setting up T2K battle scenarios and fighting them out. Check out this video showing the flight of an Mi 24: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JypVepp6xo0

This video also shows really well many of the terrain types and vehicles in Arma 2. I really love the way running motion effects are depicted in first person perspective:
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7j...cla_videogames It is in-game footage used to make this video, ie this is what it looks like when you are playing the game. There are single player campaigns but it doesn't have to be linear. You can fully edit allied and opposing forces, gear, vehicles and terrain, for single player or multi player scenarios. What an excellent tool for T2K enthusiasts!

I bought it when it first came out - some of the missions were bugged so bad, you could not complete them - scripted events wouldn't go off when they should, making it impossible to finish.
All in all, it's a fun game, but not great. Multiplayer is fun, but gets repetitive. THe downfall of this game is the poor job done writing the single player campaign - the game engine is great, but the missions are a chore. |

Cold War Rearmed
Is that mod done yet?
I played for ages with the editors of OFP and ARMA, had lots of mod-stuff, and built several T2k-related mini-scenarios (Kalisz, what-if-in-Korea, several tank-skirmishes for either germany and poland) with it, and had fun. I didnt liked the aiming in ARMA, though. Now i am in he mood to give it another try with ARMA II, but for T2k iŽll better get the CWR2-mod... NATO vs PACT would look pornographic, i am sure (and yeah, they are releasing ARMA 3, but i dont mind |

I know it's very old but I see BIS' voice acting is still nothing less than hilarious.

Worth downloading now?
I would like a human to play against. In something, CC3 doesn't have many followers any more. |

Use for twilight-sessions
Yes, it is playable (most bugs are fixed pretty good).
And now you can even go into buildings or break them down with tanks and artillery. But its even getting better in terms of gameplay if you have "operation arrowhead" (which you need for the "cold war rearmed"-mod, as much as i read in the forums for arma 2 - but that seems not 100% ready yet). Just have a look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFCaqMWx6DU I wonder that no one here seems to loose his head over it, building tons of scenarios about twilight 2000! Its just made for us. If you have several maps for different terrain, building-, vehicle-, weapon- and uniform-mods you can easily use it as a virtual "Battle-Map" for your T2k-sessions - hmmm, sweet! Within the editor you can place every unit in a "turn-based"-way, showing the results of movement, battle-damage, and so on. Last edited by Tombot; 10-25-2011 at 06:05 AM. |

Its hard to play with a laptop because you need a separate keypad for some of the controls.
