1900-1931 Weaponry Sites?
ChalkLine 08-10-2004, 05:53 AM I'm making a weaponry data file for player use in my Call of Cthulhu campaign, and I'm looking for data on weapons made from 1900 to 1931. This is in depth data for players who are knowledgable in weaponry and want a deeper look than a basic overview. While I could transcribe a lot of this out of some of my books, it'd be a whole lot easier to use already available data!
Please don't Google for me, I'm more wondering if anyone has a good resource that I may not be able to find with my own websearches. So far I've been mining Modern Firearms & Ammunition (http://world.guns.ru/main-e.htm) from Russia, but it's a bit light on details like the Enfield pistol's cartridge case extraction problem and that the Nambu pistol was liable to discharge if you dropped it. I think you'll agree that it's the kind of thing you want to know in a scenario! ******************** TR 08-10-2004, 04:58 PM Email me and I can set you up with some information, I have a lot of listing of material from around this date range (actually my listing is from 1850 to 1935) that might be of assistance... pistols and revolvers is all on one list (but I need to edit it to be honest as there are little things missing) and I have some material for subguns, rifles & carbines available... As far as websites for images it's a mix, theres a lot of auction and firearms sites but not really that cover just this time range. Until Later TR ******************** ChalkLine 08-10-2004, 10:10 PM Sorry TR, your settings don't allow e-mails ******************** TR 08-11-2004, 06:21 AM You can always email me at rogue09@sprynet.com, below is a sample of the list... the first two countries on the pistol list. Thatway you can see if this is what you are looking for as this is statistical info not hands on shooting data (I wish I would say I shot all of these!) TR PS: I'm going to be out of communication for 24 hours or so while I travel so by Friday or Saturday I would be able to respond to an inquires on this... You should be busy for the next couple hours reading over it all. So many choices and only one hand to use the firearms in... unless of course you choose the two fisted method. Definately let me know if that doesn't reach you. TR ******************** ChalkLine 08-11-2004, 10:24 AM Hasn't made it yet, but my mailer has been known to hold things up for 12 hours! ******************** ChalkLine 08-12-2004, 10:44 PM Hasn't made it yet, but my mailer has been known to hold things up for 12 hours! Nope, didn't make it. Is there somewhere I can download it? ******************** TR 08-16-2004, 09:28 PM 2nd attempt on it's way to you, as I said in that email there was a slight delay due to some family business out of state... however hope the info helps. TR ******************** ChalkLine 08-16-2004, 09:43 PM Just got the file, I'm going to try and not gush. This is simply amazing! Have you considered publishing this? I was going to web address my stuff, but I can't risk somone pilfering all your work. I admit, the Indiana Jones game was a bit lacklustre, but Call of Cthulhu using the Basic RolePlaying system was more realistic. I'm considering adding elements of Cyberpunk 2020 (shock rolls, suppressive fire zones based on weapon characteristics, etc) concepts and the ever present Luck Roll for PCs allows them the possibility of escape when modern technology throws enough lead their way to make it practically impossible, experienced PCs know not to trust to it! Anyway, thanks again. Jim ******************** TR 08-17-2004, 07:04 PM The thought has crossed my mind for publication but I need photos really to be facing any serious prospects I figure for publication... now I have a bucketload of pics but their from auction sites and there are legal issues there to be addressed.... Would love to get it done and published though! Thanks and enjoy, TR ******************** |
