What would YOU do?

This is a hypothetical question to the group. The author of this thread does not condone or even suggest these are proper actions. However....

You live in a small town. Off to the East, you see the typical mushroom cloud forming over the closest metropolis to you. With the wind direction and other factors, you figure you have a good 12 - 24 hours until any fallout would wander your way.

You know from your reading and thinking about such events, the local Super Duper Mart will be flooded with desperate people, trying to beg, borrow or steal any thing that isn't nailed down. (And, yes, some of them have crowbars)

You also figure that the Gun Shoppe will be on the list for the mob.

So what do you do? Join the mob? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would stroke my (fluffy/white) cat and instruct my minions to forward the appropriate demands to the United Nations

I'd stay away from the mob. My first thought would be to get away with as much supplies and as many of my family and friends that I could.
