Alternate Rules for MP
I know the "preferred" rules sets for MP tend to be either MP itself or one of it's close rules analogs (Twilight 2000, etc), but what other rules have people been using?
I put together a game based around the old Star Frontiers rules. I wanted a faster paced, "details light" game that didn't spend so much time on micro-computing damage by round type, gun type, etc. More of a focus on role-playing and less "accounting". You can find a fan-pro revision of the classic rules here: http://www.starfrontiersman.com/downloads/remastered on one of the other pages on the site are fan-pro e-zines with a lot more weapons, gear, race/species, etc. |

We have a couple being done with TW2013 and Cortex.
Cortex makes for fast play opposed to TW2013 which while fun as heck it is far more detailed and gritty. I couldn't see Starfrontiers as being all that fast though, I think D6 and Cortex would be a bit faster. |

Roll % under a fixed percentage score +/- a handful of simple adjustments, as opposed to figuring out dice types, rolling huge numbers of d6es and counting "successes", etc?
SF is a LOT simpler. You could also use the FASERIP Universal FEAT system for that matter (the old TSR Marvel game), though the SF skills system makes it preferable for sci-fi, IMO... |

FYI you can play D6 with one die and one roll.
Starfrontiers has never been "fast" play. D6 IMHO is alot faster and simpler but I prefer Cortex over both. |

Are we talking about the same "D6" game? West End Games from the 90s?

D6 as in what is available now, the only 90s D6 I was familair with was Starwars so wouldn't know.
I heard some rumors the latest D6 went OGL now and that the books are all free last I saw, I have no idea whats going on there have only read the books and moved on with no interest in it. |
