PC version
Has anyone tried to do anything with the Twilight 2000 PC game made by paragon back in 1992? I broke it out and was playing it today and was wondering if anyone had tried to mod or update the game in any way.

There was an update called "The Colonel" but as I was not impressed with the computer game, I didn't bother with buying The Colonel. The Colonel came out in 1993, I believe. I haven't heard of anyone doing anything else with it.

Yes, I have the update as well, the game isnt bad if you can look past the bugs you might come across. If the game was re-skinned with some updated graphics and some of the bugs squashed, I think it would be a solid game today. I still play it from time to time as an outlet to twilight 2000 here where it seems no one has ever even heard of the game.

I hadn't even heard of The Colonel....
The only good part about the original game was the character generator. Made it quick and easy to create dozens of them, although it also contained a few glitches (try being a pilot, switching to civilian, dropping a few AGL points due to age and then being recalled for the war term - doesn't allow you to do anything BUT pilot and Pilot can't be taken because the character no longer has high enough AGL).

The thing that really galled me about the PC game was man vs vehicle combat -- the troops on the ground could see and shoot at vehicles, but if you were in a vehicle, you could not see anyone outside of the vehicle to shoot at them. They just didn't show up in your viewer, and troops in something like a truck couldn't see the enemy troops either. Ridiculous -- a real massive oversight on the part of the designers. Made vehicles a sitting duck. That was a game-killer for me.

Group,
A great review of the game here on "Home of the Underdogs", where it gets a lot of love (as a "Top Dog" or overlooked classic): http://homeoftheunderdogs.net/game.php?id=1199 I remember reading some review that claimed the game was broken in that it couldn't be completed successfully for some reason, but can't find it now.
