[Mechanics]M-110 subsonic ammo
I'm using T2Kv2.2 for my Morrow Project idea and am planning on adopting the M-110 for the Project Scout/Sniper weapon. I was screwing around trying to figure out if it had a decent suppression option and...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJL2yzryAYY Oh my... subsonic ammunition! Game-wise, what effect on range and penetration are we looking at here? I'm assuming a PEN of Nil due to the downgrade in velocity. Any other thoughts? Go, go gunheads! |

Coming in under 1150 FPS.
Heavy bullet, that will drop like a stone. Compared to full power ammo The arc will be high. You will be using the bottom Mil Dot if switching back and forth. On a dedicated suppressed system you would stack under the rear scope mount. This raises the bore relative to the scope and saves you scope adjustment. Long story short, without QD Scopes and mounts it would be worthless switching back and forth from suppressed ammo to match. ROF goes down. The powder charge wasn't cycling the action. Take the stat for Match and cut the effective range by 3/4. |

Suppressed with standard velocity ammo is more than adequate for most low signature sort of engagement, +/- sexy CIA sort of cloak and dagger stuff.

It's not bad inside limitations. You can suppress the rifles report but the bullet itself makes a loud report when velocity is above 1150 feet per second (FPS)
ts a compromise. To have an effective sub sonic bullet it has to be heavier than standard. Your subsituting mass for velocity to achieve the same terminal effect. Greater mass and less velocity means gravity had more time to work on the object during its transit. So the get more distance in the travel time requires more arc, thusly the barrel rise and severely off set scope. Troops have been issued suppressors en mass in Iraq and use them with normal M855 ball or M262 if their lucky and SOST if the Gods are appeased and the tradewinds fair. The suppressors do effectively cover the muzzle flash, and distort the audible signature. Therefore at night the bad guy is getting shot at, without a muzzle flash to aim back at. The distorted report means the shot came from "over there"; a broad and generalized direction. This combined with A/N PVS-14 Monocles on every Infantryman paired with wider fielding of PAQ-4B infrared laser aiming modules forced the insurgents and Iraqi forces to give up Force on Force engagements at night. Switching to engagements of short duration and extreme range, or IED and Mortars. However this TW2K and players get to pick and choose their gear. The AR-10 is just as modular as the AR-15. Your player could own one Lower, and three uppers, switching to what is more appropriate. A sixteen inch with red dot and BUIS for just moving around dismounted, or mounted. A 20 inch with variable scope and bipod for DSM, and the suppressed with fixed red dot set up for sub sonic. |

I agree there are still many benefits to be had from firing supersonic rifle ammunition through a surpressor.

I heard it was made in only limited numbers (about 129 or so?), but apparently there were rumors that since it was such a successful design that it was still being used long after WWII.

In .45 ACP the DeLisle carbine is a thing of beauty.
How ever staying with Stoners design. I would recommend a .458 SOCCOM upper on a standard 5.56 lower. 500 grain bullets under 900 fps. |
