Default Interesting book

I just finished reading "The Island" by Michael Stark. It starts out as any good TEOTWAWKI book should with the start of a contagion.

This "bug" starts in Mexico. Then some one who was in the area gets on a plane in Mexico City, and travel with several transfers. One guess.....

Pandemic.

The "Hero" of the book decides that he is going to take his fathers boat, travel to one of the NC Outer Banks islands, fish, drink and otherwise wait for death....

So far so good.

About a half of the way in, our "Hero" starts hearing news reports of "monsters".

At this point the book wanders off eventually into demons and other strange and exotic creatures.

My point in all of this babbling.....

IF you heard of a pandemic. Maybe you have the bug. Maybe not. No way to know until the incubation period.

Would you run?
Would you stay?
Would you go somewhere "nice" to wait?

I am examining my own soul. Right now, I lean towards staying but there would be a definite run on the household booze cabinet. If I am going out...I WILL be a drunk skunk....

I am interested in reading your thoughts.

My $0.02

Mike

The Division has been developed from the ground up for the new generation of consoles. The PC version is an afterthought and almost certainly will be poorly optimised for PC. That basically takes away all my potential interest in the game right there.

Years ago me and some friends planned out a few bug out plans. Everything to fortifying a local restaurant to out camping in the NJ Pine Barrens came up. Of late I have been looking at lighthouses on the coasts and in the rivers. Many of them are solar powered and some even have boat ramps and lifts to allow ones on rivers to keep there boats out of the elements. Just getting adequate supplies out there would be the only issue. Just how much whiskey and ammunition CAN I pack a small speedboat with?

For me, my plan is to stay. But to some extent that would depend on how long is the incubation period? How long before/during/after are you contagious? What is the mortality rate, and how bad is the way you go?
