D-Day 2016, Conneaut Ohio
Sorry for the short notice but D-Day "snuck up" on me this year (pun intended).
This year's D-Day reenactment will begin on Friday the 19th of August at 9am, with weapons demonstrations (including flamethrowers), FREE rides in Higgens boats (and other landing craft) and a Tank Battle involving both German and Allied tanks (I still haven't managed to sneak my way into the Sherman) in the afternoon.
Saturday the 20th is the actual D-Day Landings and has had up to 20,000 reenactors participating (IDK how many this year).
The entire event is FREE and you can find out more about this event on the D-Day Conneaut website. So if you live in the Erie to Cleveland corridor, or are travelling through there, stop at Conneaut Ohio and check out D-Day Conneaut.
