On the one hand, I think fans producing material for other fans is pretty neat.
It also makes good financial sense, as a business model. Free League creates a no-cost system to keep its customers engaged with its core product. Free League doesn't need to spend a dime to produce more material for its core systems. On the other hand, it's doubtful that all fan-made material will be of high quality. Without a modicum of curation, the signal-to-noise ration might make it hard to find the good stuff among the chaff. It also means that creators don't receive fair compensation for their work. -
