Question about the V2.2 Eng Demo Kit
kato13 06-09-2008, 02:06 AM In working on my equipment weight volume database I am breaking every kit I can find into its components.
One Item from the V2.2 Eng Demo Kit has me stumped. "Timer, M2A1 (5):This detonator has a digital timer which can be set to any time from 30 seconds to 48 hours, in 30-second increments. It will fire up to 10 electrical caps. Once set and sealed, it is waterproof, but it cannot be set underwater Wt. 0.25 kg Price:$20 (S/S)." If this exists my google-fu has failed me. An M2A1 can be many many things including several related to explosives (an 8 second percussion detonator and a document destruction device for example) but not a digital timer. There are often naming errors in the kits but for this one I cannot find a parallel device. http://www.govcon.com/product.mvc/M1...ng-Device-0001 This is close but apparently it is not a common device, does not really fit the word "digital" and I do not believe I would have been available in the game's time line. The more I research this the more it seems like a Hollywood perception a device to make gaming easier rather than an actual piece of military equipment. Have any digital timers been type standardized? Does anyone know their designations or specifications? Would improvised timers be common enough to include in the demo kit? Any information would be helpful. Thanks. ******************** |
