Default Armies of the Night

Bored at work and thinking of the next stage of the T2k campaign I run.

Armies of the Night - I missed this one out of the normal chain because of its extremely open format. My players will give me nightmares...but I decided to stop being a coward and go for it.

If anyone else is bored enough, I am open to ideas that may 'tighten up' or improve on this. I just need something more linear to stop my players turning Manhatten more chaotic than it already is.

How about tightening the focus on getting the gold. There is a lot of background on the neighborhoods and politics that there really isn't that much need for in a more straight in and out mission. If you make it easier for them to find it they can focus on how the hell to get it out of there. Maybe they're even sent in with a convoy survivor and they only need to confirm that the gold has not been moved from its original resting place. The census and salvage aspects of the mission have always been clearly crap orders and to be ignored.

I heard this song last night for the first time in a long while and it reminded me of Armies of the Night and canon's description of NYC during the Twilight War.

I always thought of the songs "New York, New York" and "Winter Wonderland" playing in the background during some of our more violent or creepy encounters during Armies of the Night. Kinda slo-mo scenes, subdued audio with the music playing over it. Ironic, and I suppose a little Tarrantino-esque.

Or "Music of the Night" with some of the words changed...

I've always had this weird idea of Julie Andrews on a hilltop singing, "The hills are alive with the sound of gunfire," and then she gets cut down by a machinegun burst...
