Default The Muckleburgh Collection

http://www.muckleburgh.co.uk/home.htm

Hi folks, I managed to make it to Muckleburgh yesterday for my first visit. Had a pleasant couple of hours poking around it and would recommend it if you happen to be in the area. I'm still at my sisters, but I'll get some of the photos I took up when I get home at the weekend.

Pros : Lots of interesting vehicles, good admission price

Cons : Labelling of some of the exhibits is spotty to non existant, exhibits are a wee bit close for photo purposes (although thats a good points as well - lots of exhibits)

Only major disappointment for me was that they have retired the Gamma-Goat and are now offering rides in a four tonner instead, which just didn't excite me as much.

I'll have to post more photos from Puckapunyal and really rub it in!

Being a Norfolk-dweller I make the trip at least annually, along with Duxford. I didn't know the Goat was retired though! I went on it the first time I visited, must have been my 11th birthday. A 4-tonner though? I've spent enough time in those, thank you very much.

I spoke to the lady in the shop about the goat, and she said they'd had 5 over the years, but they're pretty much retired now. Said they might try and keep one going for big days and shows, but that they're pretty much done

That sucks, it was an excellent ride as I remember. I like to think that early experience prepared for the thrill of providing top cover on Snatches and Vectors! Seriously though, still a good museum, and has the added bonus of the proximity of the beach. I took some potential T2k players of mine there last year to help them get a feel for military machinery.
