Default Twilight 2000 pc game 5.25 disk

Have any of you old-schoolers ever played the game? I was browsing E-Bay for T2K stuff and came across a T2K game for DOS in a 5.25 disk. Never knew one existed but it looks pretty cool. Only problem is my computer is new and kicks ass but doesnt have 5.25 disk port. But also the game sells for like 60 bucks after shipping costs. So anyways have any of you played it before and was it any good?

I think the game is generally classified as "abandonware" and can be found on the web for free. I found it that way about 3 or 4 years ago and could not get it to run.

Given there would only be about a 25% chance of it working on a modern computer (it needs to use a DOS emulator IIRC) I would not pay 60 bucks for it.

Default for sure!!!

I wouldnt pay that either! But the description in the game did say you need a DOS application to play it and the application disc came with the game, not the game itself but the guy selling it would include the download so you were able to play it on new computers.
Still no way in hell I would pay 60 bucks for it.

Yes. It's not worth buying, and I agree that it probably wouldn't work on modern computers without a lot of work. It has a lot of limitations (the most serious being that you can't see infantry from vehicles, let alone fight them, though they can see and kill you). I sold it to Half Price Books after fooling with it for about three weeks (that was about 15 years ago or so). You're also going to have a really hard time finding a 5.25" Floppy drive that will connect to a modern computer.

The original price, BTW, when I bought it, was only $35. So you're paying a premium for a poor game.

You cna download the game for free at some sites but you will need a DOS emulator to play. I made it work on one of my old laptops. For free it was a good character generator for V2. The game was puzzling and boring, not worth it. If you have $60 to spend, don't spend it on this game.

I am not going to buy this game, Im just asking if anyone played it and if it is any good, as well as stating it being sold for 60 bucks, I have no plans on buying this game.

It had a pretty good tactical combat system for the time, put as Paul said you can't fight infantry from vehicles, and if you were dismounted and attacked by a vehicle it took forever to find it and try to shoot it with a AT weapon.

It was fun to make a 10 strength character and have him lug around a Mk 19 in man on man fights.

Jagged Alliance, Jagged Alliance 2 and the older Fallout games are the modern successors.
