Source for Bird's-eye View Pics
I'm trying to find some satellite or aerial pics that I could use for my Poland-based PbP. Google Earth is cool, but I can't zoom in close enough to make out individual buildings.
I just need a generic central European town of about 8,000 souls (pre-war) to post as a tactical map for my players. Where can I look? Thanks.

Windows Live Maps should do the trick.

You probably wont get much better than Google Earth unless you stumble across someone who owns a microlight and likes posting pics of his house from above on the internet.
Terraserver used to be pretty good for satellite photos, but everything they do these days is pay to download and I don't think it any better than Google. How about Chipping Ongar (UK)? Small town not far from me, private railway line (used to be end of a commuter line, now used by private railway enthusiasts), main road, surrounded by open farmland that's largely flat but split by ditches? Not far from WW2 fighter airfield North Weald and famously secret Nuclear Bunker at Kelvedon Hatch actually. |
