OT - BBC Four programmes on the British Army
Morning,
You might have already noticed, but for those who haven't, BBC Four are currently showing a series of different programmes on the British Army. Amongst others they're running a fly on the wall documentary following officer cadets at Sandhurst and a series of short programmes on Regimental Histories - last night was the Royal Welsh, upcoming episodes will cover the Paras, the Royal Tank Regiment, the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, and the Coldstream Guards. There also appears to be a shedload of stuff available on the BBC IPlayer via the link below (sorry folks, but I think the I player is only available in the UK). http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/collect...sh-institution Cheers

Thanks for the info. I watched the Sandhurst one but I wasn't aware of the others. My wife is going to get very bored!

the US Army use to do something similar prior to 1970, it was called "The Big Picture"... it was documentatories about the history of the United States Army and personnel done by the US Army Singal Corps.
I kind of wish they'd resurrect the program today, and showcase how good our (and allied) troops are doing.

Fuck being a hero. Do you know what you get for being a hero? Nothing! You get shot at. You get a little pat on the back, blah blah blah, attaboy! You get divorced... Your wife can't remember your last name, your kids don't want to talk to you... You get to eat a lot of meals by yourself. Trust me kid, nobody wants to be that guy. I do this because there is nobody else to do it right now. Believe me if there was somebody else to do it, I would let them do it. There's not, so I'm doing it. |
