Default Encounter Group #1 Badges

Name: Badges
Geographical Location: Anywhere
H&M Average:5
H&M Range 2-8
Number found : 1-6
Tech Level: E-C
Power / Resources : No Power / Basic Survival Equipment.
Weapons: Shotguns, some repaired modern, homemade.
Special Attributes: Sneaky, vicious and unpredictable.

Badges travel around the country as self styled Lawmen, Judge, Jury, and Executioner. They may pick as a victim, anyone who, in their opinion, has disobeyed some vague, extinct legal system. Sometimes they are right, more often they are wrong.

Does anyone use them like this? I tend to think of them as the opposite, that in a world where all else has descended into treachery, greed, and selfishness. Some attempt to right wrongs, bring justice to the victimized, make things Right.

Spread to thin, with little support, except by those they have helped. Hunted by those Warlords and Bandits intent on keeping their territories and spoils. Badges are the descendants of Law Enforcement Officials that survived the War, the diseases, the famines, and loss of civilization.

For Evil to prosper, requires only that good Men do nothing.

It's a matter of taste. There's a throwaway line in "Lucifer" about the Krell Army recruiting Badges as mercenaries (also Razers & Inquisitors) but I always thought that was VERY optional

I see them more like feudal knights. In exchange for taxes, they provide protection, stability and something resembling a legal system. They MIGHT be able to persuade themselves that they have a noble/heroic role

Its also fun to play them as opposites...the players run into a couple of badges that are trying to save a town....and just down the road the run into a few that are operating a toll bridge and abusing the travelers....and when the team tries to take out the second group, the first badges show up to help....their brother badges...
