After the War?
What do ya'll see happeningafter the war? I know one of the space genre games, maybe Traveller, takes place 300 years after the war, but I've never played it and not real sure of the history. What takes place in those 300 years?
I can see the cantonement/warlord system described in Poland lasting several years until the strongest/smartest/most popular emerges on top to proclaim himself king. France will be a world power but I don't think they'd have the cojones to expand thier territory. Germany would spend some time reuniting but end up with a democratic republic government. Russia would lose a lot of territory and thier client states but would keep a communist system. In the United States, eventually MilGov would overcome CivGov and re-establish a properly elected civilian government. Texas would make a deal with the Russians in San Antonio to expel the Mexican Army for transport home, then declare it's independence from the US. I think the US Army would turn it's forces towards CivGov forces once they saw Texas was dealing with the Mexican invaders. I'm not familiar enough with the rest of the world to make any guesses. But what's your opinion?

The USSR, Germany, China and many other nations break up into smaller states along ethnic and geographic lines. Once FTL space travel is developed, those nations with access to tantalum, the rare metal needed to build FTL drives, become interstellar colonial powers and much richer. Everyone else tries to ally with a bloc that has access to tantalum, or remains earthbound and stagnates. By 2300AD the biggest rival to the French empire in space (militarily and territorially) is a rock-solid, centuries old coalition of the USA and Australia.
