Twilight: 2000 Online
Hey all, I'm a bit new to these parts. I recently picked up T2000 1ed and the Twilight Encounters supplement. Absolutely love everything about it, the setting, the feel, everything. Problem is, there are no players in my immediate area (my college campus). I GM/play a handful of live games on the internet, so I'm down with that. Even running a PBP game would be no problem for me.
1. How would the system (especially 1e) work in an online setting? 2. Is anyone willing to give a PBP or other game a chance? I'd love to run Escape from Kalisz and onwards. I think a PBP would be easier on my schedule and for others. Thanks for the assist, Mike C. |

That's the homepage of a campaign that was run on rpgnet forums that I was involved in. It's been inactive since 2009 but the threads are still also on rpgnet if you can find them. That one used 1st ed rules and timeline/setting. There are a few games running on rpol.net forums run by some of this forums members so maybe they'll post up about them. None to my knowledge are using 1st ed rules though. I might be interested in playing if you're offering to GM. |

Thanks for the link Badbru, that's some good stuff (and a great character sheet). Luckily, the 1st ed combat is re-written in the Twilight Encounters supplement, making it (IMO) much easier, especially with vehicles. 1st ed. uses a 1d100 for skill rolls also. The live games I play are over on myRPG, a handy little site for that sort of thing. I'm currently running a Microlite d20 post-apoc game, but I don't see why T2000 wouldn't work. It'd be a lot of work for me to set up the system with the T2000 rules, but if character sheets are generated before hand, and I can get a digital copy, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Of course, this depends on people's schedules. Which is ALWAYS a factor when dealing with RPGs.
If anyone is up for that, I'd be willing to set the wheels in motion. EDIT: And having combat like 2nd edition let's me use Paul Mulcahy's amazing site, which is a plus. Last edited by M-Type; 03-23-2012 at 06:54 AM. |

I was thinking of looking into some online running but Ive been spending all my gaming time setting up for a FtF game I run on Sundays now. If I ever wind up with sufficient time Ill try to run some PBEm.
Btw, welcome aboard M, I think youll find if you need something for running a t2k game, this forum is the place to be. |

I am willing to re-roll if needed. Backstory; During one of the final offensives of the war (early summer 2000), the 1st Battalion 10th SFG (Special Forces Group) stationed at Stuttgart, Germany was dropped in at a small airport outside Lodz and was tasked with slowing or stopping supplies and communications of Warsaw Pact forces. Unknown to the SFG their drop time and location had been compromised to the GRU and KGB. They were overwhelmed at the drop location and took heavy casualties when going for cover in the forest to the south. The cover of the forest at night helped a small handful of the SFG to escape and head west back towards Germany. During the journey back the six survivors came under fire periodically during some of the breaks in the forest and when crossing some of the roads. At one point they even found themselves on the edge of a large soviet motorized infantry unit and had to back track before being discovered. The walk from Lodz towards Germany found the group in a few firefights and the loss of all members except one, the medic, just before getting to Kalisz. Looks good Isochron. Gold coins, eh? I'll have to remember that. I'll definitely work something in about a traitor or the unit that ambushed you.

oh wow, I forgot why I even put the gold coins on there. I made this char last summer when I started posting here looking for a Game Master. If you look down the right side outside the equipment list you will see a dollar amount, thats the unspent amount from the standard starting money for equipment. Also in the year 2000 that would make about 3/4 of a pound of Gold.
If someone else rolls US Army Special Forces they can be from the same unit and I can adjust my backstory Last edited by Isochron; 03-28-2012 at 01:08 PM. |

Sure thing. I was thinking of taking all the spare money and pooling it together for the party. Allows 'em to buy some weapons for their vehicles or some "squad gear".
