Default Observations Regarding Soil Quality

The attached images show my experience with differing soil quality in planting. The first image is a close-up of clover I planted about six weeks ago. The soil is a bed that has had things growing in it for several years, so there's plenty of organic matter as the least. The second image is the same bed and the same clover with a wider angle. The third image is clover I planted at the same time in a half barrel filled with potting soil. The clover in the third image is five inches tall, versus less than an inch for the clover in regular soil.

The fourth image is of clover that I planted in January in a bed that had had things growing in the past but which was nearly bare in January. Look how it's taken off! And the fifth image is of a bed of clover that has been growing more-or-less undisturbed for about 18 months.

This anecdote underscores the reality that getting people back onto the land will be no easy task. Managing the available fertilizers and gardening soil will be critical tasks.

Okay, the images didn't load. I'll have to come back later and try again.

I dont see any attachments...

But, composting everything will be mandatory! Most soils will not support the kind of farming needed in T2K.

My world utilizes missionaries and permaculture experts to assist with the rebuilding.

The images wouldn't load off my card. I'll try again after downloading them to my hard drive. That should be when I have some free time at home again in four or five days...
