Default Underground farming

Came across this and found the concept intriguing. With the set up required, I am not sure it could be used widely, but maybe an isolated test site.

I had always thought the Project would set up a few hydroponic farms like these for experimental purposes - developing new strains of crops to survive the post-war environment, for example. They would be too expensive for broad use, but could provide seeds and seedlings to the populace and help supplement internal Project food stores.

Huge underground facility that was once a limestone quarry.

These are interesting ideas. The major objection I have is a power source to drive the lights that help grow the food. Yes, Morrow Vehicles have a 18 month nuclear reactor. Yes there are portable reactors available (VERY RARE)

In a 5 year scenario, there MIGHT be a power plant still workable.

After 150 years....Not only no but HE** no.

Assuming there are no major changes to Prime Base in the 4th edition remake, there is geothermal that would work. But even outside of Prime Base, if we assume Delta Base like installations are still in play, then there are permanent installation reactors with much greater fuel supply that are not portable. If an underground farm is in the plan, then it would be possible

I would expect that power would not be an issue. A large scale base fusion plant, a small (relatively) attack submarine scale nuclear power plant, the geothermal tap (Prime Base), a stored (unassembled) solar farm, and wind power plants. These would be either on site or cached nearby with a Engineer team to set it up and run the farm with an Ag team.
