Interesting Library Find for Unit Info
Came across this big book today while doing some Twilight 1964 research at the National Guard Association of the United States library. Cover below. It's called the "Reserve Components Troop Basis of the Army: Annex I Army National Guard Unit Program"
It's a big book and I didn't have time to scan everything (Only 140 pages after deleting bad scans off my phone). Here's the 33rd Infantry Brigade, 45th Infantry Brigade, and 107th Armored Cavalry Regiment though, as they were in March of 1989, in case that's of interest to anybody. (Mostly I grabbed Engineer, Aviation, and MP units to flesh out my copy of the NATO 1989 OOB). |

found https://archive.org/details/DTIC_ADA051381 for 1971 when I googled Reserve Components Troop Basis of the Army but that was a great find (hard to find the pre-war (1997) ng units well listed). I have always started with the units that existed in 1989 (largest size of most countries prior to the end of the Cold War).

Yeah, I usually use the 1989 NATO ORBAT as my starting point. They also had the 1990 and 1991 listings but I stuck with the '89 for that reason. Had hoped to turn up other years on the DTIC site or Archives but no luck. I plan to go back to do the divisional units/more separate brigades next time.

Was not the 33rd Infantry Brigade part of the 41st Division?

Sent you a PM........
Excellent find !!! Do you think that they have that digitized ? I was also wondering if they listed the late 80’s CAPSTONE missions for the formations. |
