Default Semi-OT : Roleplaying and respect

funny little article i found...

http://unclebear.com/2009/03/roleplaying-and-respect/

btw:

it's 12:35 local time im sitting outside listening to Lord Kitchener (calypso) and anticipaiting the upcoming FTF-session tomorrow...

Everything is set up ; HQ is soon on his way, only sad news is that Fieldmarshal DeCorba is not joining us on our annual event, his mother is ill; so our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.

Default Very good article

I read the link.

I am a 57 year old male who plays D&D, Morrow Project, Traveller, BattleTech, a very old game called Boot Hill.

So there.

Amen to that!

37 year old single father with nearly 30 years RPG experience behind me and many more to come. Played more game systems than I can remember.

Haven't heard mention of Boot Hill in a long while. Looked for my box in the attic . . no luck though.

I still have my copy. Well thumbed. I have used the combat system at times for TMP. It seemed to work just fine.

And to think, as a kid in high school who played D&D, I wasn't even "in" enough to be part of the "out" crowd...

Can I get an Amen??!!??

When I was in high school, I did not have the luxury of D&D. It had not been invented yet. So I submerged my creative talents (??!!??!!) into coming up with variants for Risk.

Default important unimportant things

Yeah - I think about this too sometimes-people snicker when they hear I play RPGs.

(Their basis for being cooler than me :they DONT play RPGs)

For the longest time I was embarrassed too.

But thankfully I woke up and just started admitting it pretty much all around.

Admittedly ,I do still tend to bring it up reluctantly rather than eagerly .

So sad that or yearly Boathouse sessions are through .(Monday, back to work after the summer, loong time til next sessions..arrgh..)

When we retire GP ,it will be the boathouse every weekend
