Sorta OT:Destiny or Fate
Several months ago I attempted to write a story about T2K. I wrote it from the first person point of view, "I did this, I did that". In the story the main character gets attacked by a huge dog, gets his right hand chewed up somewhat.
About 3 1/2 weeks ago, I'm at work and walked into a customer's yard. I've been doing this for 20 years, walking into peoples yards, I thought I knew all the little tricks. I got about 15 or 20 feet into the yard and 3 rottwielers and a mutt come flying around the corner. It may sound like I'm exagerating, but it was a fight for life, if I'd have went down, knocked over or tripped, those bastards would have killed me. I got out of it pretty light, 7 stitches in my right hand, and some nips and cuts elsewhere. I thinik my writing days may be over

That's the thing about dogs like Rottweilers -- they can be absolute sweethearts, but they have serious protective and territorial instincts that can be exploited by a bad person to make them dangerous.

I submit that if you come out alive it's neither fate nor destiny, but "field research"! Unlike Internet research, field research often involves injury and rarely leads to free pornography. That's what having rich life experiences is all about. It's about sacrifices, is what I'm saying. In this case, if you want to you can now revisit that piece of writing with the added authority of having lived through pretty much that exact experience, including the physical and mental experience to flesh it out. If the experience pretty much sucked as bad in real life as in your imagination, you have the satisfaction of knowing you were creative enough to nail it beforehand. Tony |

Maybe your fate/luck will hold. Try writing about meeting a hot babe and see how your writing works!
OK, this has officially turned into the porn thread...

Until the pictures on your monitor turn out to be a pair of hairy, scary Bulgarian brothers.

My wife was reading over my shoulder and was amused. She describes herself as a "gaming wife" but not a "gaming widow", because she hasn't "lost" me, if you follow. In fact, she joins in the odd RPG (Morrow Project, Classic Traveller, Call of Cthulhu/Delta Green, D&D 3.5, All Flesh Must Be Eaten, Serenity) but doesn't like committing to long-term campaigns and so is more of a "walk on" role-player. Dear Twilight:2000 forum, I never thought this would happen to me. I am a gamer in a small Midwestern city....
