Default New Army headgear!

http://www.army.mil/-news/2011/04/01...dard-headgear/

I'm surprised the former cavalrymen here aren't all over this.

Hmmmm, considering that the Army is getting rid of the dress Greens, and replacing it with Blues, there has been talk of going back to the peaked cap.

I'm surprised (pleased) but surprised that they decided to go with the Stetson.

But it still has to be approved (and funded)....

My mother saw this same story on NBC on the 5:30 news. They did, at the end of the story, though, say, "April Fools."

Oh, I see how you are. But you have to admit anyone with the balls to wear one in the field regardless of the type of unit would play with the minds of the enemy. Leaving the people who seeing wonder if the person(s) wearing them are just crazy or simply playing the mind games that military units have played for years.

Regardless if it UK playing bagpipes or the headgear games, especially since it ironic that most Parachute units in NATO seem to have the maron beret in common. It is also why Rangers until some nut job decided the entire US Army wore black beret and US Special Forces wore the green ones.

One has to remember stories that both side told their troop to hopeful keep them in line. Like the story that was posted here about the 1st PG War when troops were told that they were up against American forces drawn from their European contingent and how they were shocked they hadn't returned in 2003...lol

Besides in almost every war type movie there some nut job of Colonel who insist on wearing one...lol

He-ey! Some of us e live in areas where it's considered a heritage. Even though I only were one when I'm out of state, got to keep up the image.

I would have thought showing the scar where you had the sixth finger removed would be enough for the image.

OK, have a point there as myself and more than a few of the guys in our unit did bring our stetsons and sabres with us to Iraq, and yes, we wore them whenever we thought we could get away with it. And don't ask about what we did when we occupied an occupied stable (The Cav rides again!). And yep, I know that story well - I posted it, they was moderately insulted that we thought they was pushovers unlike the last time when we had to bring our varsity.

Yeah, the thing is I think they put more emphasis into it. Which in turn causes more panic in their troops. I think we went up against Soviet where the blue strip undershirts and lack guard badges, we wouldn't fall over selves to surrender to their Spetnaz. Just saying.
