Default Throwaway bits of dialogue.

Just thought someone might find these useful:

"Every time one of the other guys takes one of the mudhens out, I get nervous. There's only so many birds left flying, and I'll be damned if I'm gonna wind up as a fuckin' infantryman." - CAPT Mike "BB-Gun" Dobbs, 344th TFW, KKMC Saudi Arabia

"The Koreans build some great armor! Plus they keep us supplied with enough fuel to keep our own goin'. The secret is, I hear, that they dump a pot of Kimchee in every 55 gallon drum of gas they deliver to us." - SSgt Dave Dozier, 24th Mechanized Company, South Korea

"Fuck the government. What? No, both of them." - Avery Jones, civilian, Orlando, FL

"So many guns. So, so many guns..." - unknown Polish conscript, captured outside Wroclaw after sustained MLRS fire destroyed most of his unit.

"Go home? Shit, we are home. This here is officially US territory unless a Kraut, Polack or Russki wants to come try and kick me and my three Abrams tanks off of it." - MAJ T. Camarado, <unit listed as remained in Germany>

"Sure it's eatable! What's a little fallout between friends, huh?" - unknown wholesale food vendor, outside of Omaha, Nebraska.

"Ten divisions go in, none come out. Either someone must shoot me or I will take the next train back to Moscow and shoot the checkist bastard who says 'Go attack Alaska for the security of the motherland' !" - MAJ A. Volkoff, 10th Soviet Airborne Rifle Division, two days before arrest and summary execution.

"Yep, we've got working cars, electricity...hell if them kids out to th' university can get to showin' us how to fix 'em, we'll have workin' TVs again. I'm lookin' forward to my John Waynes again." - Dale Clark, Lake Geneva, WI

"I'm afraid I have no comment...on the record. Off the record, I think they're a bunch of overcompensating fascists who should be put on trial for war crimes, every one of them." - H. Clinton (sometimes attributed to B. Clinton), Senator, AR., when asked a question in reference to MilGov

"What's the point any more? I love Melinda and the kids dearly but sometimes...sometimes I catch myself wondering if it wouldn't have been better if we'd all been down in California with Steve when it happened." - Bill Gates, Redmond, WA

"New York! Greatest city in the world, man! Fuckin' Russians couldn't kill us - they killed everywhere else, Chicago, LA, DC, Philly...boom, all gone man, all of 'em. Not NYC, baby!" - unknown Pedicab driver, New York City

"What's the most comfortable place in the world to sleep? Anywhere. Anywhere you know you're safe enough to just drop down and shut your eyes for two hours - inside a track, under the eaves of a busted up house, in a foxhole, wherever." - PFC A. Dobson, 5th Div., Cologne, FRG (United).

Nice work. These are nice and gritty. I enjoy reading these sorts of excerpts, very atmospheric.

Thanks! I can't draw a straight line to save my life so I thought I'd paint some word pictures. Glad you liked. Anyone care for any more or should I get back to work on handout page #3?

I use quotes like that to prepare NPC´s, to give myself a little "flesh to the bones", when the PC´s start to mingle with them.
Its not only about preparing what someone is talking about (depending on motivation/Int.&Edu.Stats) , but "how" it comes out, is interesting as well.
Even if you have all the stats, a picture, motivations and so on... quotes always help me to make the support-cast become more "alive".

Nice to read and a useful thread to get some ideas.

SSgt Leo Prichett, 29th ID

Nice line from a novel about vampire hunting in the Napoleonic Wars (yes honestly!):

The thing is nobody in the west realises just how much east there is.."

"Shoot better. There's a lot more of them than I thought"- out of an OT book I'm reading.

Well in my mind's eye I envisioned it as a reaction to seeing US M4 Easy Eights in the base
