Added a new spam filter
Just letting everyone know I added a new spam filter to the site.
If any post triggers the spam filter it will be put in moderation until a moderator or myself can look at it. I have no idea how sensitive it is so perhaps if you post a joke about Viagra or something similar you may see message indicating that your message will be held in moderation. If that happens send me a PM or note it here. I am applying it to all users right now to see if anything gets flagged but eventually it will only apply to users who have fewer than 6 posts. Long term I am probably going to restrict signatures for new users as well until they have made 5 posts as signatures can be a source of cross links, which are useful for raising Google rankings. |

That was an odd one to get flagged. (http://forum.juhlin.com/showpost.php...5&postcount=48) I have approved it. Long term I will remove the restriction for any user with more than 5 posts, but for now I want to see how sensitive it is to see if it is worthwhile. |

On a tangential track, Spam really isn't that bad a food, especially when fried. If you're in the field and you have a can of Spam, you're in heaven for a little while. I rarely bought it in garrison, however.

Spam is considered an appropriate gift (even for weddings) in Korea. I think tradition goes back to the war when it was the best meat that was commonly available. |

Ok we had 4 false positives so I moved the post threshold down to 5.
It is still possible that a new user might get flagged, but anything that we can do to make the site less spam friendly will make us less of a target. The next step will probably be no signature until a new user reaches 5 approved posts. |
