This list was being passed around the office, no idea who the original author is but kudos!!!!

These quotes are amusing, but the list is decidedly right-leaning. I'd like to see a few quotes from Andrew Jackson, FDR, Kennedy, and even Clinton to even it out a bit. It's funny how Clinton's roomie and a convicted fellon (Liddy) both get quotes, but none of the great democratic luminaries do. Perhaps this list is a result of the Semmelweis Reflex/confirmation bias, only recognizing "facts" that adhere to one's worldview.
To quote Albert Einstein, "If the facts don't fit the theory, change the facts."

LOL
I actually see both sides of the arguement, but I favor the one where the politicans are kept out of the light, kept out of water and never, ever, fed after midnight!

Here are some political observations from Bob Hope
"Eisenhower admitted that the budget can't be balanced and McCarthy said the communists are taking over. You don't know what to worry about these days – whether the country will be overthrown or overdrawn." "Ronald Reagan is not a typical politician because he doesn't know how to lie, cheat, and steal. He's always had an agent do that." "The Democrats have an answer to the unemployment problem. They're all running for the presidency." –On the many Democrats running for president in 1988 "It gave dirty politics a bad name." –On the Watergate affair "I always like to go to Washington D.C. It gives me a chance to visit my money." –On touring the U.S. Treasury "I need money. I have a staff of 30, and four houses, never mind the government, to support." "It's so cold here in Washington, D.C., that politicians have their hands in their own pockets." Just in the interest of keeping it balanced and humorous at the same time My $0.02 Mike |
