Default Good Biohazard Reference?

I'm thinking of Ebola, Marsburg, Mad Cow specifically. Mad Cow would be for my "Rager" zombies(Ala Zombieland). Then I pick Europe or Asia, though beef from S. America might work. The continent is for which hub airport to start with, but that might be another thread......

The TV show "Millennium" had a scenario involving a Marburg like prion initially spread by birds.

The USSR fooled with Ebola and Marsburg, until the researcher infected himself with an airborne variant. But the Russians never throw anything away.....

Default Missed it by _that_ much!

I fooled around with the thought of retrovirus-caused plague: twisting a potentially-effective treatment for ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) together with a treatment for Alzheimer's Syndrome. It could be "Rage Zombie" source.

There is a lot of room to work with here, it was only one paragraph.

I would suggest reading "Under a graveyard Sky" by John Ringo. Ringo is a Marine Biologist and at least a couple of people he knows have the training to deal with Bioweapons.

Sample Chapters

Thanks, I want a "rager" virus, we already have the "shambler" ala T2013's Halloween thread.

I have the needed materials for Marburg or MARV as it is known to some. I've found data on Airport hubs and pandemics for the U.S. I will start there, and hope that Twilight Biohazard fleshes out! Found out that three facilities in Russia still fool with Ebola and Marburg today.

If you haven't already, you may want to check out "The Hot Zone: A Terrifying True Story" by Richard Preston.

Amazon blurb: A highly infectious, deadly virus from the central African rain forest suddenly appears in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. There is no cure. In a few days 90 percent of its victims are dead. A secret military SWAT team of soldiers and scientists is mobilized to stop the outbreak of this exotic "hot" virus. The Hot Zone tells this dramatic story, giving a hair-raising account of the
appearance of rare and lethal viruses and their "crashes" into the human race. Shocking, frightening, and impossible to ignore, The Hot Zone proves that truth really is scarier than fiction.

Should be a copy in your local library.

It was mentioned along with a few others, fiction and nonfiction. There will be uninfected like the PC's, those who survive the pandemic will have prion lesions that have induced homicidal rage. They also have reduced vision, and are quite savage. I will stat the disease for NPC fodder, and any research for a vaccine. T2K/T2013has a lot to support this, this forum has even more! It will start in CONUS at the #1 pandemic risk, JFK International Airport. This might hassle the plans to fight such as officials race to real or imagined shelter.
